The idea is that, though Gamora doesn't regard as being Thanos' treatment of her to be love, in his own way, he does care terribly for her, and because he does, her energy can be solution going on by him to acquire what he needs in order to solution this unpleasant task that he has burdened himself with. That's a load of bullshit.
I absolutely accept that Thanos believes he really loves Gamora. Of course he does. He thinks he's wiping out half of the universe for the greater good. Yondu can be forgiven if Peter chooses to reach so, but that doesn't tweak what happened. Yondu was a bad father. though deep in his heart Yondu did love Peter, he never admitted that to Peter or himself, resulting in a toxic relationship.
Avengers: Infinity charge seems to arrive alongside upon the other side of the argument, which is why it's fittingly frustrating.
